Wedding is a lifetime event and we do extensive planning to celebrate it in the best possible way. Every wedding is different and there are practically infinite ways in which we can plan our wedding. In India, the wedding is big, not in terms of expenses but in terms of rituals, guest management and maintaining the whole thing. The concept of pre-wedding is not a part of the wedding in India any way but over the years we have beautifully adopted it and it has now become a must to do in the wedding checklist.
For me, pre-wedding is not just a pre-wedding shoot, I see pre-wedding as an escape from the never-ending plans, meeting with your guests, wedding vendors and others. I have seen people do pre-wedding for the sake of doing photography or someone else is doing but I suggest, consider as it’s a day or two for the couple to pre-celebrate their new journey. It’s an opportunity to come close and spend an entire day or two and make it eternal by capturing those beautiful moments and memories. The pre-wedding is a planned day out for the couple to express your love in your way and save it for yours only. The wedding day is typically a hectic day, especially in India as the bridegroom has to attend various rituals, attend their guests, looking after things as well. So in some way you lose the opportunity get clicked properly. After having an experience for more than 11 years I can speculate the happenings on the big day. Obviously, your wedding is not all about photography but photography is one of the most important things because after you it is the second thing that will remain intact. So, I think pre-wedding is something more important than merely it seems and for this reason, we must plan the pre-wedding keeping few things in mind. So, let me help you out how you can plan your day so that it becomes a memorable day!
Time: The best time for pre-wedding is undoubtedly the winter but having said that it doesn’t mean that you can’t plan it in other season. The temperature and the light are just perfect for the pre-wedding in winter. You must avoid the summer at least for an outdoor shoot. It is better to shoot you pre-wedding in an indoor location.
Light: Second important factor is daylight or the light. Usually, the falling lights, morning and afternoon are considered to be the best lighting situation for outdoor photography and outdoor pre-wedding also. Yes, I understand getting ready early in the morning and that too in winter (if you choose to do the shoot in winter) is a really tough job but believe me, you will get the reward.
Days to avoid: Try not to schedule your pre-wedding on a public holiday. These are the days when people plan their vacations and there is high chance is that you will end up finding your location flooded with visitors. This is a serious issue, don’t take a chance! In any case, you have no option but to do your shoot on a holiday, try choosing an offbeat location.
Location: Choose your location after a little research. Location plays a very important role in photography. Try choosing an offbeat location and at the same time also check if the location is safe and accessible. A location may be a cityscape or a beautiful landscape. Adding natural elements to the photographs is always best. You can discuss with us or your photographer for a better option. There are a few technical aspects which are best understood by your photographer.
Shooting slots: A pre-wedding is time-consuming shoot. Start your day as early as possible. The early you start your day, the more are the chances of getting more amazing shots. At the same time taking small breaks is also very important. By doing so not only you but also we or your photographer keeps the energy level high throughout the day and don’t get exhausted. Break your day into multiple parts and plan your shoot accordingly.
Dress: Choosing your dress is an important part. Discuss with your photographer what suits you if you are confused. A proper dress and suitable colours play a very important role in making your photographs beautiful.
Plans: If you have any plan regarding your pre-wedding, discuss in advance with us (or your photographer). It will help us to plan your pre-wedding better.
Enjoy: Last but not the least, remember it is a day to celebrate and enjoy. We will be there to capture those beautiful moments for you. Enjoy your day to the fullest and when we will be photographing you, just ignore our presence.
Before you schedule your pre-wedding, schedule a meeting with us and we will discuss everything over a cup of coffee!
